Peruse more: Functionalist Perspective on Social Institutions The contention hypothesis specialists further demand disposing of present day tests, as indicated by them all tests contain an information base which is in every case socially delicate. Then again, the Conflict scholars take a gander at instruction not as a social advantage or opportunity, however as a ground-breaking methods for keeping up power structures and making a resigned work power for private enterprise. The interactionists’ hypothesis is comparative with training as in an instructor has more effect on the understudies inside a study hall set up; subsequently the exhibition of an understudy is significantly founded on the educator judgment and exertion (Brubacher 1962) The point of view of every hypothesis The functionalists consider training to be a methods for transmitting or propagating the center instructive qualities starting with one age then onto the next. Also, he contends that the unequivocally significant subjects incorporate perusing, composing and science. In light of the conversation, it would thus be able to be viewed as that Aristotle’s suspecting fits into the thoughts of the functionalist hypothesis (Rappa 1976). Further, it is through these distinctions that various individuals meet up and reason towards arriving at a strong resolution, which adds to a headway in the field of training since trough conversations new thoughts are set up. Furthermore, these speculations help the citizenry acknowledge assorted variety in their reasoning and view of things. References Brubacher, S. (1962). Modem Philosophies of Education. Advice for Parents Starting the College Admissions Process TKG

Advice for Parents Starting the College Admissions Process Step 1:  Get Organized You’re probably great with organization. That will be helpful along the road to college applications. You should help your kid get organized, but one word of caution: don’t start doing things for them. Help your soon-to-be applicant create a good system to keep all of their pertinent information in order.  Step 2: Get Out of It  Once you’ve helped your kid get started, get out of it. And stay out. This piece of information is so important, we wrote it in two separate sections. We don’t need to tell you this but with teenagers, the more you tell them to do things, the less they want to do them. So, resist the urge to be involved (unless, of course, they ask for your help) and incentivize their ownership of the process instead. Your kid will eventually ask for your help if they need it. Lead the horse to water. Step 2a: Realize This Isn’t About You We find that during the college admissions process, parents often begin rehashing their own lives at 17.  They think about all of the things they wish they had done and start projecting or trying to protect their kids from their own past pitfalls. You can’t prevent everything bad from happening. If you didn’t get into the Ivy League, you should not necessarily push your kid to apply if it’s not right for them. We’ve found that parents are just kids with more responsibility. The best advice we can give is really just to stay out of it. Step 2b: Hire Someone If you can afford to, hire a college counseling service. We don’t write the essays for your kids. We do the job you want done: we manage the process and help them brainstorm and write every piece of writing. We also give parents weekly progress reports so they can stay informed. If you can’t afford a counseling service, welcome to the blog!  Need help with your college essays? Reach out to us here. We are great at helping kids write unique, impressive essays.

Learning And Development Globalization

Question: Discuss about theLearning And Development for Globalization. Answer: Introduction Globalization has made the world a smaller place and people from around the world now interact with one other in a much easier and swift fashion. This interaction and sharing of ideas has also led to the sharing of knowledge in a seamless manner which can enrich the personal learning and development of each individual as a professional. All these aspects of learning can be put into several perspectives which have been done in this article. The different aspects talk about how differently the elements in our life can influence us so that we can have an efficient learning experience throughout our life. The different perspectives take into account the organizational structure in which we work and also the local effects of our surroundings. The importance of critical reflective analysis has also been highlighted throughout the article. Several approaches can be implemented for the successful learning and development; few of them have been highlighted in this article. All these aspects w ill be dealt in greater detail in the coming sections of this article(Lee, 2012). Body Professional identity is an important aspect of any person in order to shape his or her future. In our professional career we generally devote most of our time and energy in our work throughout the day; therefore it is extremely important to understand ones identity and capabilities. Every profession demands certain types of skill sets and either one has those skill sets and ability innately within them or needs to work towards gaining them. Most people start their career with certain ambitions without knowing about their actual ability and passion in life. This may land them up ion jobs or profession which is a complete misfit for their identity and personality. This not hurts the career of the concerned person but also reduces the productivity of the person. If the person had been able to involve in more productive occupation it would have polished his desirable skill sets in a more advantageous manner and thereby would have been able to achieve greater success in life. Organizatio ns also spend a lot for the successful training and induction of individuals and developing them into professionals. Because of this wrong job identity alignment there may be situations wherein the organizations investment goes in vain. Therefore it is extremely essential that every individual makes a sincere attempt to identify his or her professional identity and align his education, career, etc. accordingly. This will give a higher job satisfaction for the individual and also more liberty to experiment with the skill sets that he develops. Professional identity therefore is an integral part of any learning and development process. It may act as the stepping stone to further the knowledge and experience of any professional(Knapp, 2010). The learning and development of a professional is ultimately directed towards the greater good of the business or organization of a professional. The motive for any organization to exist is to increase the wealth of the shareholder and therefore ultimately any professional development of the individual employees that take place is directed to achieve that goal. Keeping in perspective this phenomenon, every organization creates a suitable environment for its employees for the appropriate learning and development so that they can add value to their business. This is the initial premise for establishing any learning and development program or plan. Apart from that there are several polices and plans that are developed within the organization which affect the learning and development of the individuals working for the organization. These plans are a wider motive of the organization to create management leaders for the future. Every individual also joins an organization with the expectati on that the company would invest in the professional development and career enhancement of his employees. Accordingly the organization also sets aside resources so that they can be used for the professional development of the employees. Therefore organization and its culture play a significant role in the professional development and learning which is an integral part of any individuals career. Therefore it is justified to mention that organization structure, culture and hierarchy are few of the things which deeply influence the learning process of individuals and therefore companies should strive in those initiatives to shape the career of their employees as well as the future of the organization(Fowler, 2004). This section of the report deals with the smaller details of the organizational learning so that it can provide a detailed roadmap for the learning and development process of the individual. Learning is a subjective matter and therefore varies from person to person which needs to be taken into concern. Learning and development also differs depending on the type of profession in which the people are involved and therefore there is a strong requirement for understanding the professional identity of the person who is the intended audience for the leering and development. In this context the people who frame the development program must understand the needs of the audience and their capability to grasp the knowledge(Orekhov, 2007). Accordingly the program should be framed so that there is maximum effect of the training and development initiative and the people participating in the program can gain the most out of it. There can be course which can be taken by the participants or seminar a nd lectures from professors or industry experts can be organized so that it can be used for the development of the people in concern. Apart from that there can be regular feedbacks from the people with whom the person is working. The feedback should not be necessarily the senior under whom the person is working; it should be taken from every individual who has a stake with the person in concern. This thought process has led to the culture of 360 degree feedback which also involves the subordinates who work under the person. Apart from that there can be a balanced scorecard which can be established in order to judge the performance of the individuals in an organizational context(Boulding, 2002). Balanced scorecards for the performance of organizations are quite well known and have effectively increased the performance of the organizations throughout the world. This concept can also be applied for the betterment of the individual performance of employees and can also contribute toward s the overall training and development of the individuals in the organization. Therefore we can look into some of these innovative techniques for the successful learning and development of an individual keeping in mind the differences that exist among each individual. There can be several approaches for professional development and some of them may be successful for a particular individual while others may not be that much fruitful. However the effectiveness of each of the process needs to be analyzed in detail before jumping onto conclusions. The overall learning approach can be brought under several theoretical frameworks which bolster the efficacy of the process and situation. Learning and development is a strategic goal of any organization or individual and therefore should receive priority while the goal setting opportunity is taken into concern. The frameworks that should be applied for learning and development have been decided after several researches and implementation which in turn incorporates the different innovative methods that can be used for proper implementation of the training and development(Bell, 2012). However it should be kept in mind that these approaches need to be flexible and need to incorporate the individual capabilitie s of the person in concern. In some cases person hand holding may be required for the learning and development of an individual whereas in other case an individual may learn by simply looking at the process or being a part of it. Therefore while some come out to be high achievers others require considerable attention in order to pull them up to the similar level. The training and development approach of the organization should be such that it takes into concern all aspects of theindividual capabilities and no one is left behind in such endeavors. Therefore the approach that is being adapted for imparting learning and development plays an important role in the overall understanding of the process and designing the program(WRAY, 2007). Any learning or development program should have a strong reflective practice which enables any individual or professional to understand the drawbacks or shortcomings in his learning approach. Accordingly the person can direct his or her efforts so that he or she can recover and improve on the weak points while still leveraging the stronger aspects of her professional identity. Reflective practice have become a common phenomenon in every learning and educational practice wherein every participant is asked to look back upon the entire learning process and give his or her ideas about where things went bad and in which sections there are ample opportunity for improvement. Basils Changes As Related To Wildes Opinion On A Essays

Basil's Changes As Related To Wilde's Opinion On A Essays Basil's Changes As Related To Wilde's Opinion On Art A Picture of Dorian Gray Basil's Changes As Related To Wilde's Opinion On Art Oscar Wilde, author of The Picture of Dorian Gray, makes Basil's life change drastically by having him paint a portrait of Dorian Gray and express too much of himself in it, which, in Wilde's mind, is a troublesome obstacle to circumvent. Wilde believes that the artist should not portray any of himself in his work, so when Basil does this, it is he who creates his own downfall, not Dorian. Wilde introduces Basil to Dorian when Basil begins to notice Dorian staring at him at a party. Basil "suddenly became conscious that someone was looking at [him]. [He] turned halfway around and saw Dorian Gray for the first time" (Wilde 24). Basil immediately notices him, however Basil is afraid to talk to him. His reason for this is that he does "not want any external influence in [his] life" (Wilde 24). This is almost a paradox in that it is eventually his own internal influence that destroys him. Wilde does this many times throughout the book. He loved using paradoxes and that is why Lord Henry, the character most similar to Wilde, is quoted as being called "Price Paradox." Although Dorian and Basil end up hating each other, they do enjoy meeting each other for the first time. Basil finds something different about Dorian. He sees him in a different way than he sees other men. Dorian is not only beautiful to Basil, but he is also gentle and kind. This is when Basil falls in love with him and begins to paint the picture. Basil begins painting the picture, but does not tell anyone about it, including Dorian, because he knows that there is too much of himself in it. Lord Henry discovers the painting and asks Basil why he will not display it. Lord Henry thinks that it is so beautiful it should be displayed in a museum. Basil argues that the reason he will not display the painting is because he is "afraid that [he] has shown in it the secret of his soul" (Wilde 23). This is another paradox because he has not only shown the secret of his soul, but the painting eventually comes to show the secret of Dorian's soul also. In the preface to The Picture of Dorian Gray, Wilde explains that "to reveal art and conceal the artist is art's aim" (Wilde 17). Basil realizes that he has not concealed himself in the painting and therefore feels the painting is not worth anything. After Lord Henry sees the painting, he asks to meet Dorian. Basil says that would not be good because his "influence would be bad" (Wilde 31). Basil is correct in saying this because Lord Henry is the main person who helps Dorian to destroy himself. Lord Henry disregards Basil's request and meets Dorian anyway. This is the beginning of the end for both Dorian and Basil because Lord Henry's influence pollutes Dorian. Lord Henry taunts Dorian and continues to remind him of all the sin that is building up and that even though his body is not aging, his soul is deteriorating fast. When Basil notices that Dorian has not changed physically in many years, he is curious to know how Dorian stayed beautiful, but also wants to know why Dorian has changed so much emotionally. Basil does not have the painting on display, but rather keeps it in the attic. When Dorian comes over one day, he and Basil are talking when Basil asks, "I wonder do I know you? Before I could answer that, I should have to see your soul." (Wilde 216) Dorian goes into a rage and takes Basil upstairs to see his soul which is concealed in the painting. When Basil sees the painting which is bloody and atrocious looking, he cannot believe that he painted it. Dorian reassures him that it is indeed Basil's painting. In that painting is all of Dorian's hate, fear, and sadness reduced onto a canvass. When Dorian sees the picture, he blames Basil for it and picks up a knife laying on a nearby table and stabs Basil. He then takes the knife and stabs the painting in the heart, killing his soul, and returning the painting to its original form. Wilde constructs this in an interesting way because after Dorian stabs the picture, which is a representation of his soul, Wilde shows Dorian laying on the ground, wrinkled and disgusting, with a knife in his heart. Wilde did this to show that when Dorian stabbed the painting, he was actually stabbing himself. Oscar Wilde first portrays Dorian Gray as a sweet, sensitive man whom everyone admires.

Separation of Church and State essays

Separation of Church and State essays R. Freeman Butts makes the case that legal and historical scholarship points to the broader, separatist, and secular meaning of the First Amendment when it comes to answering the question of whether church and state should remain separated in the educational realm. He argues that current efforts to narrow the distance between religion and schools erodes the intent our forefathers had in the Constitution. Jefferson and Madison devoted nearly all of their efforts to establishing a wall of separation between church and state, and this principle can not be ignored nor undermined in the least bit. Butts traces this historical debate throughout the years, stemming from our forefathers intentions through modern Supreme Court cases which continue to dispute these intentions. There are no flaws in his approach because he reiterates the need to maintain the separation, as meant by the First Amendment. History shows that the Supreme Court has found in favor of this separation, however jurisprudence of original intent preserves a highly debated issues. A ruling against maintaining the separation of Church and State could have distressing implications. R. Freeman Butts utilizes the rulings of previous notable Supreme Court rulings and quotes from justices to further his argument. He quotes Justice Hugo Black who wrote for the majority in the 1947 ruling of Everson v. Board of Education, ...Neither a state nor the Federal Government can pass laws which aid one religion, aid all religions, or prefer one religion over another...No tax in any amount, large or small, can be levied to support any religious activities or institutions.... This clearly rules against any public to be used for religious schooling. He also uses Chief Justice Burgers summary that constitutional state action in education should serve a secular purpose, neither advance nor inhibit religion, and that the government sha...

God is Just Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

God is Just - Essay Example The adverts of the latter view tend to believe in fun and joy as the main essence of life (â€Å"Teleological Arguments for God's Existence†). Thus, conventionally, four chief arguments related to the existence of God emerged: 1) the cosmological argument; 2) the teleological argument; 3) the ontological argument; and 4) the moral law argument. The present article deals with teleological argument. It is popularly known as "the argument from design" (Greek meaning of telos is design). According to this argument, the universe confirms the presence of complex life forms, from tiniest creatures to the biggest animals and plants; everything is in a perfect order being inter-linked; moreover, no one modulates these living beings but they are self-modulated in a perfectly controlled manner. The designer or creator has created life forms in a simplistic manner and, therefore, He must be a perfect and well co-ordinated planner to make this world run so smoothly maintaining the harmoniz ation, dexterity and a perfect balance of complex life forms. Thus, there must be a premeditated and decree brainpower behind these synchronizations, here emerges a belief that a force is certain beyond the nature and it is something supernatural! (â€Å"Teleological Arguments for God's Existence†). ... According to William Paley, heavenly bodies wander with perfect accuracy in their fixed paths and orbits. Every living organism possesses a complex life form structure meeting various metabolic processes and their requirements every fraction of second. These intricacies just happen and it is solely the creation of God (â€Å"Teleological Arguments for God's Existence†). Besides, there are individuals called Agnostic who raise the next question: "If God is all-powerful and all-forgiving, why must he send his son to die for his sins. Couldn't God just forgive the sins without sending his son down in human form to die? So what, so God dies for a few hours, how does that in any way forgive a sin...?† God has made us follow the path of truth. There’s a fear of punishment that is deep seated in minds of those who practice truth in every aspect of life, who are honest and do what is right, do justice and stay away from committing sinful acts, such as robbery, theft, murd er or abuse of any kind (â€Å"Good Question...Why Can't God Just Forgive Sin, Instead of Demanding Justice?†) . Although these arguments could convince millions, in the present scenario of rapid science development (with the conception of the evolution of life and various life forms, evolution of planets and the universe, forces behind each movement, theories, interpretations and explanations about the happenings taking place in the universe) teleological arguments are taken to some different path. According to the present arguments, spotlight lies on the fact of "fine-tuning" of the universe to support life. This is an objection to the Paley’s view as the present opposition is based on the theory of evolution and, hence, the aforementioned arguments are less

Human trafficking on women in hawaii or united states vs foreign Essay

Human trafficking on women in hawaii or united states vs foreign countries like india or china - Essay Example According to Fagan Brian, Human trafficking often involves the use of threats, false promise, force and trickery. The victims are usually sexually exploited; the sexual practices they engage in include sex shows, pornography, mail order brides, brothel prostitution, sex tours and serial sponsorship. Trafficking in women and girls has become an international business in Hawaii as well as other countries; especially in U.S. it is regarded as a migration issue, which leads to responses that will demand efforts to illegally cross the border. Taran and Gloria argues that, Hawaii is a logical transit destination where trafficking is very high. Research by Fagan shows how Alec Sou, William Khoo and Mike Sou conspired and devised a scheme so that they can obtain the labor of Thai nationals. They entice them to come into their farms in Hawaii, with false promises of good jobs. Furthermore, they make arrangements for high recruitment fee, which attract many jobless women from countries like China. According to Taran and Gloria, Hawaii is the first state to criminalize the activities related to sex trafficking in women. A new law was formulated; a law that recognize the relationship between trafficking and tourism. The major activities that contribute to trafficking in Hawaii include prostitution and other related activities (Fagan Brian. 2007). The state of Hawaii has developed a legislation that would campaign against sex tourism and sex trade in general. According to Taran and Gloria, the case of human trafficking is being prosecuted by Human trafficking prosecution unit. The case is conducted by the Hawaii department of public safety; this is the top priority of justice department. However, human trafficking is the fastest developing industry in Hawaii and United States. People trafficking continue to rise in number. Human trafficking throughout international and local borders requires collaboration and cooperation between countries or states involved. For instance to transport trafficked women from China to Hawaii, the two states have to collaborate and cooperate in order to perform human trafficking successfully. The major destination for the traffickers (U.S. and all 50 states including Hawaii), must come up with a domestic response to this alarming crisis. Violence against women and girls is defined as a national policy issue in Hawaii. However, sometimes, it is considered an individual problem that is not relevant to a public subject. In other words, trafficking of women and children should be viewed as a wide context of labor migration and transportation of persons from crisis situations and conflict areas as internally displaced people and refugees (Taran Patrick and Gloria Moreno 2007). An effective analysis should address the issues of women trafficking so that the federal government can be able to come up with policies, which can be implemented to control the crisis. Fagan claims that, women trafficking should be recognized as a component of population mobility and labor migration that ranges across seasonal and temporary population movement; movements that are intended to be temporary may sometimes turn to seasonal or permanent. This is because the victims may decide to remain in the destination place as a permanent migrant. On the other hand, China has had tragic stories about immigrants who migrate to Hawaii and other countries in U.S.

Importance of Personal Hygiene in a Pharmacy Workplace

Importance of Personal Hygiene in a Pharmacy Workplace Maintaining a comfortable environment in which all employees can work in is an importantpoor hygiene from employees can affect the overall performance of a team or impact on their colleagues and other people, particularly patients, with whom an individual comes in to contact. Keeping clean is essential for good health; poor hygiene can cause skin complaints,  unpleasant smells and bacterial or parasitic infections; poor dental care can also give rise  to bad breath. Unwashed clothes are often a source of undesirable smells. Staff should come work having attended to their personal hygiene each day with clean  clothes and hair and free from unpleasant odours. Clean uniform should be worn each day and replaced if it becomes soiled during a shift. Why should we pay attention to keep workplace/pharmacy environment clean? Keeping work environment clean reduces workplace hazards and help get a job done safely and properly. Unhygienic environment can frequently contribute to accidents by hiding hazards that cause injuries. If the sight of paper, debris, clutter and spills is accepted as normal, then other more serious health and safety hazards may be taken for granted. Housekeeping is not just cleanliness. It includes keeping work areas neat and orderly; maintaining halls and floors free of slip and trip hazards; and removing of waste materials (e.g., paper, cardboard) and other fire hazards from work areas. It also requires paying attention to important details such as the layout of the whole workplace, aisle marking, the adequacy of storage facilities, and maintenance. Good housekeeping is also a basic part of accident and fire prevention. What is the purpose of keeping pharmacy clean? Unhygienic and unclean work environment can be a cause of accidents, such as: Tripping over loose objects on floors, stairs and platforms Being hit by falling objects Slipping on greasy, wet or dirty surfaces Striking against projecting, poorly stacked items or misplaced material Cutting, puncturing, or tearing the skin of hands or other parts of the body on projecting nails, wire or steel strapping To avoid these hazards, a workplace must maintain order throughout a workday. What are some benefits of keeping pharmacy environment clean? Effective cleanliness at a workplace results in: Reduced handling to ease the flow of materials Fewer tripping and slipping accidents in clutter-free and spill-free work areas Decreased fire hazards Lower worker exposures to hazardous substances (e.g. dusts, vapours) Better control of tools and materials, including inventory and supplies More efficient equipment cleanup and maintenance Better hygienic conditions leading to improved health More effective use of space Reduced property damage by improving preventive maintenance Less janitorial work Improved morale Improved productivity (tools and materials will be easy to find) How do I plan a good work environment program in my HBS pharmacy? A hygienic program plans and manages the orderly storage and movement of materials from point of entry to exit. It includes a material flow plan to ensure minimal handling. The plan also ensures that work areas are not used as storage areas by having workers move materials to and from work areas as needed. Part of the plan could include investing in extra bins and more frequent disposal. The costs of this investment could be offset by the elimination of repeated handling of the same material and more effective use of the workers time. Often, ineffective or insufficient storage planning results in materials being handled and stored in hazardous ways. Knowing the plant layout and the movement of materials throughout the workplace can help plan work procedures. Worker training is an essential part of any hygienic and risk free program. Workers need to know how to work safely with the products they use. They also need to know how to protect other workers such as by posting signs (e.g., Wet Slippery Floor) and reporting any unusual conditions. A clean enironment order is maintained not achieved. Cleaning and organization must be done regularly, not just at the end of the shift. Integrating housekeeping into jobs can help ensure this is done. A good housekeeping program identifies and assigns responsibilities for the following: Clean up during the shift Day-to-day cleanup Waste disposal Removal of unused materials Inspection to ensure cleanup is complete Do not forget out-of-the-way places such as shelves, basements, sheds, and boiler rooms that would otherwise be overlooked. The orderly arrangement of operations, tools, equipment and supplies is an important part of keeping a pharmacy clean.

Social Darwinism in American Politics Essay -- Social Darwinism Essays

Introduction Social Darwinism is a quasi-philosophical, quasi-religious, quasi-sociological view that came from the mind of Herbert Spencer, an English philosopher in the 19th century. It did not achieve wide acceptance in England or Europe, but flourished in this country, as is true of many ideologies, religions, and philosophies. A good summary of Social Darwinism is by Johnson: In these years, when Darwin's Origin of Species, popularized by Herbert Spencer as "the survival of the fittest, " and applied to races as well as species in a vulgarized form, Social Darwinism, the coming Christian triumph was presented as an Anglo-Saxon Protestant one. Social Darwinism is by no means dead, for vestiges of it can be found in the present. What Is "Darwinism?" Charles Darwin was an English biologist who, along with a few others, developed a biological concept that has been vulgarized and attacked from the moment his major work, The Origin of Species, was published in 1859. An accurate and brief picture of his contribution to biology is probably his own: Evolution is transmission with adaptation. Darwin saw in his epochal trip aboard the ship The Beagle in the 1830s what many others had seen but did not draw the proper conclusions. In the Galapagos Islands, off South America, Darwin noted that very large tortoises differed slightly from one island to the next. He noted also that finches also differed from one geographical location to the next. Some had shorter beaks, useful for cracking seeds. Some had long, sharp beaks, useful for prying insects out of their hiding places. Some had long tail feathers, others short ones. Darwin took copious notes, captured insects and animals and selected plants. These he preserved in jars and took them back to England where he thought about the implications of what he had seen. for almost three decades. What occurred to him was a simple notion: animals, plants, insects, fishes, etc., which were obviously related differed slightly and these differences seemed to be tied in with their ability to survive. Differences, which he called "adaptations," were often related to geographical factors. He also saw something similar in fossils: certainly some fish, sea shells, etc., that died and were covered up by sand, gradually turned to stone, and were caught forever in fossil form. There seemed to b... ...le for a "net" that would not allow any individual to lapse into abject poverty, homelessness on a wide scale, hunger or destitution. However, in the 1980s, Ronald Reagan was elected on a platform which declared that New Deal policies were responsible for poverty, crime, and all other social problems. Government, Reagan kept on repeating, was not any part of a solution to the problem. Government was the problem. Therefore, a good many policies based upon the "net" concept were weakened or simply eliminated. It is not accurate to say that 19th century Social Darwinism, "Reaganomics," New Deal philosophy or its manifestation in the economic policies of President Clinton is now dominant. A fair assessment is that all of these ideologies can be found within our society--as public policy and as belief structure. The ability of conflicting, incompatible social philosophies to live side by side, even within the same person, (cite) explains why there is so much unresolved conflict, why it is difficult for a given bit of social policy to achieve permanence. why, as many have pointed out, there is considerable poverty in the wealthiest society in the world.

Compensation System Of Henderson Printing Company

Compensation system in Henderson printing company Introduction One of the important aspects of business management is having a proper compensation system. Marketing A major issue with Lululemon Athletica Inc. is their marketing strategy. Currently, they are following a marketing strategy similar to word-of-mouth, focusing solely on a few key players to help get lululemon out there (Marketing, BUS 340). Niche Market Lululemon has chosen to place itself with a very focused target market. Business Ethics (Grapes Of Wrath Essay Example For Students

Business Ethics (Grapes Of Wrath Essay Business Ethics Essay Business ethics are a moral code that people conducting any sort of business should feel honorably obligated to follow. People are definitely morally responsible to follow a code of ethics and should never cheat each other. Parts of this code of ethics should be honesty, integrity, fidelity, charity, responsibility, and self-discipline. Those ethics should apply both to a person buying something, and a person selling something. I dont believe that a person should be forced to follow the caveat emptor policy, on the basis that it is unfair and unjust both to the buyer and seller. If you are an ethical person, you should not have to warn people to beware. A person selling something is morally obligated to inform the purchaser of several things: the value of the car at cost, faithfulness to the client, and be able to answer any questions honestly, without any hold-backs. In The Grapes of Wrath, it is obvious that the car dealer was not ethical at all. For example, they used to coerce women into liking specific cars, so the husband would have to feel forced to buy the car to impress their girlfriends/wives. Another example is how the car dealer used to put lousy parts into the cars and sell them, knowing that the car would break down 5 miles down the road. He took advantage of the peoples necessity to get out of Oklahoma for his own personal gain. Also, the buyer has a certain responsibility too. They need to make sure to not completely trust the seller, because not everyone is ethical. They should examine the goods carefully, ask educated questions, and read up on the topic before going ahead and buying something. For example, in The Grapes of Wrath, the car dealer was able to take more advantage of the people because he can see the raw need on their faces, and how they didnt really ask anything to make him give them a better deal. Therefore, the people didnt do their part of being ethical buyers to get the best and most honest deal. The advertiser also has a big responsibility too, to be honest in the ads. For example, in The Grapes of Wrath, the car dealership advertised a nice car at a very cheap price, but they never sold that car. They lied to the people who wanted to buy that car, saying that it had just been sold. They took advantage of the peoples naivet, and that is very wrong. Those car dealers were definitely unethical, taking advantage of people just because the demand was greater than the supply, they seized upon the opportunity to rip people off of their hard-earned money. Using a Daily Motivational Quiz to Increase Student Preparation, Attendance, and Participation

Summary of the Paper Evidently, the provided paper discerns the use of daily motivational quiz to increase the participation, attendance, and preparation of students. It is noted that freshmen and sophomore students who hardly pursue accounting majors (as a career choice) later in their education programs embrace introductory accounting lessons.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Using a ‘‘Daily Motivational Quiz’’ to Increase Student Preparation, Attendance, and Participation specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More These are, however, not highly motivated and thus present instructors with the challenge of finding ways of motivating them effectively. The motivation is aimed at improving their ability to get ready for class, be punctual, and participate in constructive class discussions. The instructors have adopted the use of daily quiz to achieve this and empirical evidence supports the strategy. The abstract of the document has effectively summarized the document. It has noted the mostly affected students, the desired goals and the strategy adopted. In addition, it has included empirical evidence that supports the strategy that is used. Main Critique The authors note that it is a challenging and frustrating task to teach an introductory accounting program. However, it is also rewarding and satisfying to introduce the subject to students and give them knowledge that they can use in business. Nevertheless, the challenges are so great. The paper has clearly stated the sources of challenges to teaching introductory accounting lessons. The lessons are required in business majors in many institutions. This results in high population of non accounting students in the classes. This creates various problems. First, non accounting majors are likely not to be serious in the classes. Secondly, most of them are freshmen and may not have the requisite skills for studying. Additional cha llenge is the requirement that instructors teach other courses like critical thinking to better equip students. The authors thus managed to bring out clearly all the challenges in teaching introductory accounting courses and have given detailed explanation. The paper has also noted the results brought by these challenges and they are high levels of failure and high levels of withdrawal. It provides information and research findings to support these. An example is a study in United States comprising four-year colleges that found the average rate of withdrawal in two introductory accounting lessons to be 19.76% and rate of failure was 15.27%. Grades â€Å"D†, â€Å"F† and â€Å"W† comprised 40.8% of the grades the students had.Advertising Looking for essay on education? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Additionally, the authors have included the shift in paradigms from â€Å"provision of instructions† to â€Å"production of learning† by various institutions as it complicates the problem. This ensures that there are no gaps. Under production of learning paradigm, members of a faculty design learning strategies, setting and experiences and seek to inspire students to be able to find knowledge themselves instead of instructors delivering the knowledge. The authors have clearly given the strategy adopted to achieve the goals desired. Daily quiz in lessons can inspire students to be prepared for class, be punctual and be involved in the classes. They have used literature from other studies to support their claim. It can induce students to complete homework and seek personalized assistance from the instructor (Nevid 150). Quizzes can be structured in a way that they are algorithmic variations to the home work given (Nevid 150). Since the topics had been done in class, the quizzes play a major role in determining the finishing grades of the students (Nevid 150). The degree to whi ch instructors use daily quiz in accounting classes in unclear. The authors, however, found that many standard accounting programs do not use them from the website of American Accounting Association’s Common. It provides evidence to support the use of quiz in shaping students’ perceptions, their effect on failure rates, on the instructor and on evaluations. In general, the introduction of the paper has touched on all the main issues about the paper. It has given a thorough description of the problem, objective and literature in the issue. However, it is too lengthy and does not give summary of data collection methods. The authors note that many students in all disciplines do not devote much time for studies in recent times than a century ago. First year students are the most affected. They describe this using a study that found that approximately 33 percent only do read before going to class (Kleinman 368). Many say that demanding schedules make then not prepare for cl ass. The non accounting majors are not interested in accounts and take the lessons simply because it is a requirement. This leaves instructors with students who do not want to be involved in class activities. This leads to poor academic performance (Hoyt and KimMarie 345). Daily quiz can be introduced to tackle the problem since it makes students to revise before class. Students in first year like absenteeism and yet there is proof that performance and turnout are strongly associated. The authors provide evidence for these claims (Keller 314) and (Grewe 146). Daily quiz will give students a reason to come to class. The quiz should be administered at the beginning of the lesson.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Using a ‘‘Daily Motivational Quiz’’ to Increase Student Preparation, Attendance, and Participation specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More This gives students an incentive to come early e nough for the class. The authors propose that non-lecture strategies like discussions to be used in teaching accounting lessons. The reason is that various learning methods are shown by accounting students (Garf 86). Thus attendance and preparation should be complemented with participation to improve grades. The authors clearly gave description of how they carried out their research and the method they used to obtain data so as to build an effective strategy. They also noted the necessary modifications and the results of the study. The questions focused on motivator’s task and were simple for students if they revised and uncomplicated to grade. Terminology and concepts were the focus and time was put into consideration. The grading is done quickly and feedback given promptly to ensure compliance and revelation of areas requiring clarifications. They described control measures that ensure success in developing strategy. The authors used different methods to obtain data. They u sed open ended questions, multiple choice questions, and rating. They also obtained more information through students’ feedback regarding daily quiz. Analysis of responses was by using open-codes (Del and Tonia 41). A table is included showing results obtained by the researchers. They included 66 students in the study and this is a good sample size to muse. Most of them liked the use of daily quiz. They have clearly shown the variation in responses including the number who liked the quizzes, the number who thought the questions were tough or easy and how they felt the quizzes impacted on their attendance, performance and participation. Additionally, the authors noted how they results are consistent with previous studies. They concluded that results indicated quiz can enable students to adjust to course requirements and fully understand the courses. The percentage of students who felt quizzes made them prepare for class was 85, 74 felt they made them be punctual while 71 felt it made them be involved in class activities. They also described how the data explained relationship between failure and withdrawal and the quizzes. The results showed that rates of failure were low in semesters when the strategy was used. Summary of Research Approaches The research approaches method learnt are qualitative, quantitative, logical theoretical and participatory methods. Logical theoretical is used when inferences are made from rational set of first assumptions. On the other hand, participatory theoretical is used when the researcher gets involved in the activities of the people he studies. Qualitative research is based on data that is obtained through observation or qualitative in nature.Advertising Looking for essay on education? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Quantitative research mainly concerns gathering of data and then converting it to enable calculations (McNabb 302). The authors used quantitative method in the study since obtaining data was simple. This was done through giving of questionnaires and open ended questions. Analysis using this method also brings more dependable results. The data collected was quantitative by nature. This is a critical provision when considered comprehensively in the context of research. It is crucial to consider various aspects of research critique in order to validate any research paper. Conclusions The paper has provided theoretical evidence to all the claims made. All claims made are accurate and consistent with the findings of the study. The data collected and methods used effectively supported the goal of the study. The feedback too showed the effectiveness of using quiz in introductory accounting lessons. It also managed to move from description of the problem to actual gathering and analysis of data. There is also a logical sequence in the structure of the whole paper. The authors first of all states goals of the study, the challenges and the strategy to be used to achieve the objectives. This paper has also focused on the information provided on the document. Differences in Marks Obtained by Students Taught by Different Tutors There is difference in the marks that are obtained by students of the different tutors. The mean mark obtained by students taught by tutor 1 is 45.125 marks and they are 16 students. The modal mark obtained in the class is 57 marks while the median is 52 marks. Based on these figures, the class performs averagely. This could be due to the small number of students in the class. The standard deviation in the marks obtained in this class is 15.2441. They managed to score 15.8438% of the total marks in the five classes. The mean mark obtained by students taught by tutor 2 is 54.312 and they are also 16 students. It can be said that they have passed than those taught by tutor 1. Their modal mark was 35 and the median mark is 56.5. The standard deviation in the marks scored in this class is 19.3622. This class managed to score 19.0696% of the total marks scored by all the 90 students. For students taught by tutor 3, their mean mark is 47.2 marks and they are 30 students in the class. The mode is 40 marks and the medial mark is 45 marks. The reason for poor score in this class could be because of the high number of students. There is likelihood that tutor 3 is unable to give personalized attention to the students. Due to the high number, there is also likelihood that some students could not be attending all the classes and the tutor cannot notice. The standard deviation in the marks scored in the class is 12.7802. They scored 31.0731% of the total marks of all the 90 students. This is because they are many in the class than students in the other classes. The mean mark for those taught by tutor 4 is 69 and they are 13 in class. Their mode is 61 and the median is also 61 marks. The likely reason for high performance in this class is that the students could be engaging the teacher in the class room. They could be holding discussions and have formed discussion groups. Another reason could be that due to the small number of students in the class, tutor 4 is capable of handling the students easily. He is able to give personalized attention to each student and this has a positive impact on the performance of the students. Various studies have often shown that small student to teacher ratios have positive impact on the performance of the students. The other reason for good performance in the class can be that tutor 4 is highly competent. They scored 19.6840% of all the total marks obtained by all the students. Finally, the mean mark for those taught by tutor 5 is 43.53 and they are 15 in the class. The mode for this class is 40 marks and the median mark is 43. They managed to score 14.3296% of all the marks scored by a ll the students. The table below shows the percentage scores of all the students taught by the five tutors. The students taught by tutor 3 scored the highest percentage of 31.07% in all the marks of the 90 students. This can be explained by their small number. Students of tutor 5 scored the lowest percentage marks among all the students. Students taught by tutor 4 had a mean score of 69 marks, the mode is 61 and the median is also 61 marks. The lowest score in the class is 53 compared to others for example the least score in class taught by tutor 1 is 13 while that taught by tutor 2 is 14. The least score in class taught by tutor 3 and 5 are 21 and 25 respectively. They are thus the class that has performed better compared to the other classes. Their total percentage score is however low since they are few in the class. However, there are other factors that have to be considered in order to make dependable conclusions. Effects of Course Taken and Results Obtained The courses that t he students take has influence in the marks that they obtain. The mean score of the student who take course 1 is 54.9524 marks while that of students who take course 2 is 46.8542 marks. Additionally, the modal mark in the class taking course 1 is 58 marks while that taking course 2 is 40 marks. The median mark in the class taking course 1 is 55 marks while that of the class taking course 2 is 43.5 marks. All these show that students taking course one obtain higher grades than those who take course 2. The standard deviation for those taking course 1 is 14.9910 marks while those taking course 2 is 16.2638 marks. The percentage score for all the students taking course 1 is 50.64736 marks while the percentage score for all the students taking course 2 is 49.35264. The chart and table below shows the percentage scores for the two courses by all the students. course Percentage score Course 1 50.647356 Course 2 49.352644 There are reasons that can explain the difference in perfo rmance between the two classes. One reason could be that course 1 is not more involving than course 2. Another reason could be that the study and teaching methods used in the two classes are different. The method used in teaching course 1 could be more effective and then the method used in teaching course 2. Students, Previous Entry Qualifications and the Marks that they achieve The entry qualifications of the students have an impact on the marks obtained in the modules. To know the influence of previous entry qualifications, I checked the means of all the students whose qualifications were 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. The mean score of students whose entry qualifications were ranked as 1 is 42.26667 and the students were 15 in number. Their modal score is 60 and the median is 38. Only 7 of these students passed the 50 mark point with the rest performing dismally. The mean score for the students whose entry qualifications were ranked as 2 on the other hand is 45.3333 which are higher than the mean of those whose entry qualifications were ranked as 1. The median is 45.5 marks and this is higher showing a better performance that those whose entry qualifications was 1. For those whose entry qualifications was ranked as 3, their mean score for the module is 48.42 and this also shows a better performance than the two above. The mode for this group is 40 while the median is 48 marks. The increase in the median mark also shows an increased performance among this group of students. The mean score for the students whose entry qualifications to the module was ranked as 4 had a mean score of 51.7778 in the module and this further shows that the entry qualifications in the module made difference in the marks obtained. Finally, the students whose entry qualifications to the module were ranked as 5 showed the best performance in the module. Their mean score in the module is 63.3158 marks. This is the highest among all the groups. Their modal mark is 70 marks and the median mark for th e group is 69 marks. This further supports the conclusion that the pervious entry qualifications of the students make a difference in their performance in the module. The chart below shows variations in the means of the performance of the various groups of students. It clearly shows that students whose entry qualifications were low perform poorly compare to those whose entry qualifications are high. The reason for this could be that students who had higher entry qualifications are highly intelligent and thus high performers. They could also have been better trained in reading and studying methods and thus are able to pass exams easily. Works Cited Del, Rosso and Tonia Marek.
